“The Handmaid’s account” was a popular feminist unique by Margaret Atwood set in a dystopian future. In it, combat and pollution have made pregnancy and childbirth more and more difficult, and ladies are enslaved as prostitutes or “virginal” concubines (“handmaiden”) in an attempt to repopulate and get a handle on the populace.
