Now I am going to be engaging in a reside and recorded podcast talk with theologians Tripp Fuller and Philip Clayton on “Homebrewed Christianity”—a website and business that attracts numerous reasonably younger, disaffected postevangelicals. A few of my ideal college students have advised both Homebrewed Christianity and me to introducing each other. I am not at all averse to that particular and look toward the experience.
My project should chat for approximately half an hour (with the ninety instant podcast) about “the more pressing question about goodness which has formed your personal wondering.” That’s easy to identify much less very easy to explain in detail in 30 mins or reduced.
My personal interest in God’s self-limitation(s) started, i believe, inside my seminary reports when you look at the seventies. Appearing out of my very fundamentalist/Pentecostal upbringing and early theological degree I found myself, as you would expect, baffled and interesting. Like other additional evangelical Christians I have been taught by my personal spiritual mentors that 1) “God is within control over anything,” and 2) Evil and innocent enduring be a consequence of the abuse of creaturely free will, not from God’s will or agencies. While I attempted to probe the apparent contradiction between those two philosophy, my spiritual teachers switched my personal interesting issues away by stating “Don’t question goodness.” But we know after that that I found myselfn’t “questioning God;” I found myself questioning them.
